Purpose-Built Studio
Our teachers enjoy working closely with you, and look forward to sharing their love and passion for the practice.
We also run annual teacher training programmes, and run regular workshops both in New Zealand and abroad.
Studio Classes
We have a FULL timetable of classes running weekly Sunday – Friday, in our purpose built studio in Totara Point, Taupo. At the Danske Mobler roundabout, turn left: you will find us opposite Flooring Xtra. Parking is a-plenty directly outside, with no time limits, which is great if you want to hang around afterwards and talk with your fellow students, or are coming to one of our longer classes.
We recommend coming at least 10 minutes early to class to give yourself time to get settled and ready to begin.

Meet the team…
Debi Hendra
is an experienced registered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) and Hatha Yoga Teacher. Practicing for nearly three decades and teaching for twenty years, she has studied biomechanics, energetics, philosophy, mindfulness, meditation and yoga nidra. In 2009 she set up her first yoga studio, The Heart Center, built in her garage. This transformed into a purpose built studio in 2010, where classes grew and so did the teaching team. She created and directed her first 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2010/11 and has continued to develop, mentor and evolve it since. Built from this strong foundation Love Yoga, her third studio was opened in 2015. Debi teaches a wide range of students in Ashtanga (the Primary/Intermediate/Third series) both traditional Mysore style and Counted classes, she also shares Gentle Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Handstand Masterclasses and Tai Chi – which allows her to offer classes that cater to different needs. She now teaches at the studio as well as in the community, at local colleges and schools, youth programmes and internationally, sharing workshops and retreats around the world.
She has trained extensively with John Scott, Peter Sanson and Sharath Jois, Director of the KPJAYI, and his mother Saraswati Jois, in Mysore. She lives in Taupo with her husband, two children Max and Indigo.
Sandy Farquhar
Sandy’s life-long fascination and engagement with embodied practices (including dance, movement and tai chi) alongside her yoga training has led her to deeply value softening, resting and releasing as the way to an authentic yoga practice. Sandy has completed yoga teacher training in hatha, restorative, pregnancy and irest and since coming to Love Yoga is looking to further her own practice through Ashtanga Yoga.
Dani Gabolinscy

She also regularly travels to workshops to study with Peter Sanson, John Scott and Kiri Sutherland. Her gentle presence and calm energy, lend a beautiful steadiness to her classes and teaching style.
Moira Leddingham, Wellington, New Zealand
“100% recommend LoveYogaNewZealand online!! I am back on the mat again after suffering severe shoulder issues. The shoulder work out has helped me no end. Thank you Debi I am enjoying all the workouts on my mat, and the chance to play more too! Especially love Day 19 of the 30 Days of Yoga – a Restorative Practice – it’s True Bliss!!”
Jayme Ridings, Ngatea, New Zealand
“Debi is a wonderful, insightful teacher! I’ve had the privilege of being guided through practice by her in-studio while on holiday and now have the joy of continuing to build my practice utilising her expertise during online classes. Debi has a beautiful teaching style which blends theory, visual examples, enhancement exercises and thoughtful contemplation to create a yoga experience that is accessible to everyone. If you are looking to change your life with yoga Debi is a wonderful person to guide you on your journey.”
Jean Caulton, New Zealand
“I can only say that I am a better person for attending Debi’s classes, I would never have thought online yoga could be this good. Thank you Debi for sharing you love and compassion.”
Joanne Saville, New Zealand
“I always finish a class feeling restored, re-energised and ready to face the world again.”
Brooke Mauws, Canada
“Debi has truly an incredible presence that makes you feel warm and at peace. She has such incredible knowledge of body anatomy and descriptively explains the movements in her classes so you fully understand how each asana should feel. Modifications were always provided so her classes are suitable for all body types and ages. Ashtanga yoga was intimidating to me at first, however once I practised with Debi I immediately felt comfortable and realized that it was completely accessible, as Debi’s approach is gentle and gradual.”
